What is the most complex Algorithim you have written?

In my experience that is a question that is company specific. Meaning, they are looking for you to describe a skill that they are looking for. Some companies do not want a "complex" program. They want to see if you will answer in a way that they know your code in maintainable if you left. Some may want to know the complexity in which the site had and how you made it user friendly.

This question is best answered in how well you can read the person asking it.

I agree that this question is best answered with a view to the company and industry where the company does business.

I could claim optimizing power generation among many power plants using different fuels and power generation technologies, an object oriented database technology, operating system modifications, generalized graphing application, realtime response to check reading, insurance systems, machine shop enventory control, credit card rebates, automated software language-environment-database transformation, and others.

If the potential customer/employer is in some of these industries, they are doing a targetted hire, and I were to answer with detail in an no related industry, they might easily decide that I must be much more focussed in things beyond their desires.
