If the purpose is to get a feel for the person's attributes, you should ask him / her straight up.

So be cool and give descrieb yourself as a mix of differnet animals ....

I would be a bird. They understand that if they all work together that they can reach new heights. They fly in formation so that they can benefit from the lift from the bird in front and to the side of them. They take turns being the leader because the leader has to work the hardest. That's teamwork! When geese are flying and one of them is injured and has to stop flying 2 others go down with the injured bird to care for it until it is either able to fly again or until it dies. I think that we could all benefit if we would learn from them that if we all work together we will reach our goals faster and easier.

Thsi question helps to bridge the gap between the type of person you think you are and the person you actually are.

Anyone who says this is ridiculous is not properly prepared for interviewing and will be missing out on opportunities.

This topic is covered in Organization Behavior within the Human Resources discipline, taught at leadership classes, etc.

It helps top look at the interviewing proces from the interviewers standpoint.

BTW, I would like to be an elephant, the real king of the jungle with compassion.
